Workshop of Laboratory Management, Basic Level was held again on February 16, 2017. This workshop is considered important because according to the experience of this workshop’s main speaker, Dr. Yunita, M.Pd., many school laboratories in Indonesia are not properly managed. Laboratory management should be a priority so that students’ experiment can be conducted in a safe and comfortable way, and laboratory apparatus can be stored properly.
In the workshop at Pudak Training Center, in Gedebage, Bandung, Mrs. Yunita conveyed various materials about laboratory management, particularly about the proper apparatus usage, equipment maintenance, and waste management after experiment. She was also shared her experience about school laboratory. Participants were also had a chance to try the Chemistry Kit which Mrs. Yunita was involved during the product development.
After break and lunch, participants were invited to Pudak Scientific’s factory to see the production processes of educational aids products which some of them were used by participants in workshop activities. In Pudak Scientific’s factory, which land area is approximately 5 hectare, participants were shown the production process from scratch until the product is ready to be delivered to customers.
The workshop was continued to the experiment activity. In this session, participants did Physics, Chemistry and Biology experiment. The focus of this session is to practice the proper usage, maintenance and repair of educational aids; equipment safety storage in laboratory; waste management after experiment; and laboratory safety and code of conduct.
We wished this workshop will motivate participants to improve the quality of laboratory in their school that will lead to a better Indonesian education. |
