On November 22, 2014, Pudak Scientific held training on social science. This training was very much anticipated by the social science teachers who were less facilitated in trainings for self improvement. Many people were interested in attending this training, which some of them had to be put in the waiting list that will be registered for the next social science training.
The speaker for this training was Mr. Asep Mulyadi, M.Pd and Mrs. Yeni Kurniawati S, S.Pd, M.Pd, the team of social science experts of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. The training, which called the “Qualified Media Applications in Social Science Learning”, was prepared by Pudak Scienctific’s team and the team of social science experts of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.

In this training participants were encouraged to be creative in using the social science educational aids available in their school, thus it can be used optimally. The social science educational aids have its own characteristic because one aid can be utilized to explain various phenomena, which become the learning subject in school.

This social science training was conducted in three sessions that was guided by the team of social science experts of UPI. On the first session participants was invited to have depth understanding of social science materials based on Kurikulum 2013. On the second session participants were guided to optimally use the social science educational aids provided in Pudak Scienctific’s social science laboratory, and depicted it in a mind map. The activity on the third session was making a simple mock-up of social science laboratory; therefore participants will understand the basic design of developing a good social science laboratory. This mock-up making was conducted because there was no standardization of social science laboratory. Participants were very enthusiastic in following every activity in this training.

This social science training was facilitated by various facilities of Pudak Training Center, particularly the facilities in the social science laboratory of Pudak Training Center. This laboratory is well equipped for training that includes complete educational aids and workshop for stones research.

This training was ended by question and answer session and questioners for participants. One of the participants said that he was glad to attend this training and hoping that there will be more training for social science teachers.

By conducting this social science training, Pudak Scientific is expecting to make some contribution in improving teachers’ quality; in accordance with our purpose, to actively involve in improving education in Indonesia.
