Workshop of Basic Level of Laboratory Management, June 17, 2017

On Saturday, June 17, 2017, Pudak Scientific held the “Workshop of Basic Level of Science Laboratory Management”. Recently, government gave more attention to school science laboratory by providing more science laboratory aids for schools in order to improve learning quality in laboratories. However, most laboratory aids have not been properly used because most laboratory users do not know how to properly use the aids. This is the reason why Pudak Scientific held this “Workshop of Basic Level of Laboratory Management”.

This workshop held near the end of Ramadhan month was started at 8 a.m., earlier than the usual schedule to adjust to the iftar time. Dr. Yunita, M.Pd was the main speaker for this workshop. She has experiences in arranging various laboratories in all over Indonesia. In her lecture, she emphasized about the discipline in using science laboratory in order to secure students safety when using the laboratory.

After break, the workshop held at Pudak Training Center in Gedebage, Bandung, was continued with factory visit. Participants were invited to see the educational aids making process, such as glassware products which required 1200 degrees Celcius heat in the process.

Next activity in this workshop attended by participants from various regions in West Java was experiment session, which included:
  • usage of chemistry educational aids
  • usage of microscope
  • observation of leaf’s stomata
  • basic  measurement by using calipers, scres micrometer, and basic meter
  • power supply test
Participants were very enthusiastic during this session because participants were allowed to try Pudak Scientific educational aids available in Pudak Training Center. Participants also had science experiments conducted in an unusual way. For example, doing the stomata observation – which is usually conducted by making a tiny slice of Rhoeo discolor – by using nail polish to make a mold of the leaf’s surface to observe the stomata of the leaf’s surface?

This workshop ended at 4 p.m. and participants were happy and satisfied because they received alot new knowledge by attending this workshop. We wished that through this workshop we can continue to actively involve in improving the quality of Indonesian education, in accordance with our vision and mission as the biggest education aids producer in Indonesia.
