Science workshop is Pudak Scientific’s regular event for teachers and laboratory assistants of schools and higher educational level, which is a proof of Pudak Scientific’s commitment as “your partner in education”. The first workshop in 2016 was held last Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Pudak Training Center (PTC), Gedebage, Bandung. The theme for this workshop was “Workshop of Science Laboratory Management, Basic Level” with Dr. Yunita, M.Pd – a chemistry lecturer in UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung - as the speaker. This event was attended by seven participants of teachers and laboratory assistants of junior high school and university from various cities.

The workshop was conducted in 2 sessions. The first session was presentation by speaker, while the second session was experiments. During her presentation, Dr. Yunita, M.Pd emphasized on the importance of the good laboratory management to support the learning and teaching process, as well as the important role of teachers and laboratory assistant in it. Moreover, participants were also given information regarding the specification of laboratory equipment that confirm with the laboratory standard and laboratory safety regulation. It is expected that participants will be able optimally function the laboratory with the proper safety standard.

In the second session, participants were invited to have deeper understanding on the function of laboratory experiment equipment and had several experiment by using the equipment. The experiments include:

• Stomata observation by microscope.
• Insect respiratory observation by respirometer.
• Calibration of 311 balance.
• Procedure of analytical solution making.
• Kirchoff law experiment.

This workshop ended at 5 pm, western Indonesian time. Participants seemed satisfied after following this workshop. One participant conveyed that this workshop was fun and useful. By following this workshop, we wished teachers and laboratory assistant will be able to optimally use their school laboratory, for a better education in Indonesia, in accordance with our purpose which is to actively involved in advancing the Indonesian education.
